Youth Consultative Body
December 09, 2009
YSPDB Chair Veselin ILIEV was part of the delegation of the Youth Consultative Body (YCB) to Brussels. During its two-day visit the YCB met representatives of the European Youth Forum and discussed the good practices of the forum in the process of development of the European Youth Policy and the links between the European and the national youth policies. Another important meeting was organized with representatives of the General Directorate “Education and Culture” of the European Commission, where the Bulgarian representatives expressed the effectiveness of the European Youth in Action Programme. The youth unit of the directorate presented the new Youth Strategy of EU and how relevant it is to the national strategies in the EU member-states.
The Bulgarian Delegation was the first who met MEPs from the newly established inter-group YOUTH at the European Parliament. “How far is Brussels from the young people of Europe?” was the topic of the meeting. During the discussion Vesselin ILIEV invited the intergroup to visit Bulgaria in 2010.
