Youth Society for Peace and Development of the Balkans was a partner organization of "Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk Landesverband Mecklenburg - Vorpommern e.V." on a project implemented in Prora, Germany from July 25th to August 03rd this year. The youth exchange, held under the program Youth in Action met 7 young people from each of the following 7 countries - Latvia, Poland, Romania, France, Slovakia, Germany and Bulgaria and turned them into friends.
The young people were divided into several workshops, such as graffiti, music, video, photography, drama and sculpture. Every person was able to make a contribution to each of the various workshops, implemented in various activities. At the end of the exchange there was a special final show, where all of the results from the workshops were presented.
As the area of Prora, situated in the island of Rugen reveals a great history, the participants were able to learn something more about the years of Nazi past of the region, the rich underwater life of the Baltic Sea, the chalk cliffs of the Jasmund national park, the unique architecture of the cities Stralsund and Sassnitz. All of this was accompanied by trips to neighboring settlements, boat voyage, excursions, visits to museums and public aquariums.
