Study Session on “Voluntary Service and Intercultural Dialogue”

EBCO – European Bureau for Conscientious Objection – and AVSO – Association of Voluntary Service Organisations – are looking for participants for the Council of Europe Study Session “Voluntary Service and Intercultural Dialogue”.
The Study Session on “Voluntary Service and Intercultural Dialogue” organised by EBCO and AVSO will take place at the European Youth Centre in Budapest from the 25th of October to the 1st of November 2009.
The aim of the Study Session is to contribute to conflicts resolution through intercultural dialogue and voluntary service based on the values of non violence and civil activism.
Through a range of different activities and workshops, the participants will improve their understanding of the values supported by the Council of Europe, such as human rights, non violence and active ageing; they will explore the challenges related to intercultural dialogue in order to come up with their own ideas and answers. Furthermore, the participants will be encouraged to undertake follow up activities through building up networks and relationship with other participants and their organisations.
The programme will include activities, lectures, workshops and seminars about civil activism and non violence, conflict resolution, human rights, intercultural dialogue and voluntary service. Team building activities and networking facilitation will be offered as well. Furthermore the Study Session will privilege proactive and interactive methods and participants will be required to contribute with their experience to the activities (e.g. the case study workshop). The more detailed programme will be circulated among the participants as soon as possible.
