Regional Meetings for Youth Consultative Body

A regional meeting of youth organizations from Shumen, Dobrich, Silistra, Razgrad and Varna took place on the 7th February in the Youth House in Varna. The meeting aimed at electing representatives for the Youth Consultative Body from the North East Region of Bulgaria. The conference was inaugurated by Mrs. Kalinka Popstefanova, the Director of “Youth Activities and Sport”, who wished successful work to the participants.
Guests at the event were representatives of different political and nongovernmental organizations, interested in developing youth policies.
The participants carried 2-hour discussions ranging over the priority topics that the future representatives of YCB will defend, giving special attention to some of them. As a conclusion of the workshop the discussed main topics where systemized in several directions: building and supporting youth infrastructure; encouraging and supporting volunteering; financial support for youth activities and initiatives; business and young people; encouraging the dialog with the local authorities; encouraging the civil society; optimizing the information dissemination sources by adding subtopics to each area thus narrowing the raised problems.
All participants supported the “We want our law, too” national campaign and signed a declaration in order to urgently carry the bill for the youth development by the end of the 40th National Assembly mandate. The national strategy for the development of the young people in Bulgaria for the period 2008-2013 was presented and discussed.
The representatives of the Youth Consultative Body were elected by a secret vote.
