International folklore festival
“Malashevo sings and dances”October 11, 2007
In the autumn of 2004 a new Bulgarian Folklore Festival was born. From 22 to 24 October 2004 participants from Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia and Serbia initiated the beginning of new International Folklore Festival - “Malashevo sings and dances”.
This year the forth edition of the festival will be conducted from 12 to 14 October 2007 in village of Mikrevo under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria – Mr. Sergei Stanishev. The main aim of the festival is to preserve, to popularize and to strengthen the position of the different European countries’ folklore.
Due to its great success during the first three editions the festival gains its place among the most popular Bulgarian traditional folklore festivals.
Applications for participation in the Forth International Folklore festival have sent more than 3000 participants from Bulgaria and Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Czech Republic, Hungary, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Belarusian and Kosovo.
The festival will be broadcasted by the Bulgarian National Television, correspondents from other national and regional media.
The festival this year will be also supported by the YOUTH in ACTION programme. The Youth Society for Peace and development of the Balkans will support the event logistically.
