The Forth National Youth Fair – Varna

In the period 9 – 10 June 2007 the Forth National Youth Fair – Varna 2007 took place. The event was organized by Varna Municipality, “Youth actions and sport” department under the programme of the Youth forum for partnership with the local authorities. The fair gathered together over 100 NGOs working in the youth field from all over the country. The young people of Bulgaria declared their active civic position for the forth year in a row in front of the National Astronomic observatory “Nikolai Kopernik” in the Sea Garden. They also demonstrate their talents, imagination and originality.
The event was part of the initiative “European Youth Week” (3 -10 June), which was organized for the third time and was suggested by the European commission.
In the beginning of the fair there was a presentation of the “European Youth Policies” and a discussion about the possibilities for multiplication the good experience of the other European countries. Mariya Tasheva presented the newly established “National centre for European Youth Programmes” as well as the new “Youth in Action” programme, which is one of the main instruments of the European commission for work with young people.
The presentation of the “European Youth Forum” provoked huge interest among the NGO representatives. During the presentation they had the opportunity to hear the main priorities of the youth policy development in 2007. The information was presented by Veselin Iliev, Secretary general of Youth Society for Peace and Development of the Balkans, board member of the European Bureau for Conscientious Objection – EBCO and its representative at European Youth Forum.
On 10th of June the youth organizations had the opportunity to present their activities an open scene. The most attractive youth NGOs were awarded. The youth talents from TD “Rodni Balkani” got the award for the highest participation. The most emotional were the participants from association “Resource centre – New alternative” – Blagoevgrad, most interesting for the audience were the youngsters from “I CAN, I KNOW,I CREATE” and as most motley organization was awarded Youth Theatre “Alternativa” – Gorna Oryahovitsa.
