“The Festival of Friendship, devoted to the 50th anniversary of sister cities relation between Hamburg and St.Petersburg”.

1-4 July, 2007 the 5th International Youth Festival of Friendship* will be held in St.Petersburg.
The Festival will be organized by the Committee on youth policy and cooperation with NGO’s of St.Petersburg in partnership with the NGO “International youth service”.
The first International Youth Festival of Friendship was organized in 2002 in St. Petersburg and became the first step to the revival and consolidation of friendship between the youth of Russia and other countries. Young people from more than 10 countries took part in this festival. And each year the quantity of participants increases. This year young people from Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Greece, India, the US, Japan, Denmark, Finland, Cuba, Czech republic, the UK, Russia and others will be invited to join the event. 200 young people at the age of 18-30 are welcomed to take part in the Festival of Friendship-2007. The youth will have a great opportunity to discuss actual problems:Cooperation of youth organizations of twin cities.
The main aim of the discussion in this group is to create an unofficial declaration. The Declaration should have the information about youth organizations, system of cooperation pf the youth of sister cities and technical structure of the youth international exchanges. While discussing all those of participants will find new contacts and create the document that will help to develop the cooperation of youth organizations of different countries.
Environment and environmental education
One of the most actual topics of the XXI century is the problem of environment. People seldom think about what influence they have on the environment, what harm they do for nature. That’s why nowadays humanity has such problems as climate change, water and air pollution, uncontrollable stream of wastes.
The future of our planet is in the hands of the youth and namely their understanding and attitude to these problems will help to confine the number of disasters in the future.
According to this, organizers of the Festival of Friendship have decided to create a working group “Environment and environmental education”, in which the youth from different countries will tell about environmental situation, school and university environmental education in their hometowns and also they will have an opportunity to discuss a question of ecological education using their creative imagination - to create the script of an international youth ecological video.Youth and Tolerance
Sufficiently important problem nowadays is the problem of tolerance as the way of attitude to the world of the youth. Tolerance is a respect, an acceptance and comprehension of self-expression of human individuality.
Festival of Friendship offers participants to discuss this problem by presenting the way of tolerance development in their own countries and talk about tolerance education in schools. Also participants will have an opportunity to write an article about tolerance problems that will be published in some youth newspapers of St.Petersburg.Creative workshop
The fourth working group will be transformed into the creative workshop where young people will show their creative talants. To participate in this group organizers of the Festival of Friendship invite youngsters who are a good hand at singing, drawing, writing poems and music. Creative works of the youth will be a result of this workshop.
Besides there will be excursions, concerts, entertaining program, informal communication and a lot of fun.
Official language of the Festival is English.

***Participants pay only for travel tickets and participation fee. Accommodation, three meals a day and leisure time will be paid from St.Petersburg budget
